Duluth Trip!

Dave, Katelyn and I decided to make a quick dash to Duluth Minnesota to catch up with my sister and dad flying in from Washington.  We drove two whole days and were there two days.  What a whirl wind!  The 24 hours of driving is just not right but we enjoyed seeing family and friends.

Autumn!

As of yesterday, Autumn has been released from her parents and now we have the priviledge of adding her officially to our family.  It's been a long process and is not, technically over yet.... but it's one step closer.

Isn't she just a darling!  She's a little stinker too but we love her!

Life Happens!

Yesterday Terry was working on the house.  Some guys were here working on the outside wiring with him.  They would do what they could and then Terry would put more siding on.  On it went until the last time Terry went up the ladder..... he went up and was at the top when bang, the ladder fell out from under him.  He fell from the second story (height) and landed on his knee among other things.  His knee is very sore and he broken the skin.  (it's red and irritated)  He went into the hospital to make sure that he was fine.....no broken bones etc...  He's fine but very very sore!  He had to take two days off of work.  Except I've got him working at home.....he's sanding something.  He's so frustrated that this happened.  What's with Terry and ladders?  I think we should take the ladders away from him?!!!  No, we are glad that he's okay..... three times and your out?  No third times a charm!

He's only on his second time so he should be fine!

Saturday is a busy day around the Michaels house..... cleaning, organizing, burning, weed wacking, garage out, bathrooms.....etc.

It's a beautiful September day so the kids are outside playing.  It's probably lower 70s and with a breeze, perfect!  Gorgeous!

Terry is working on sanding our island that we bought over 10 years ago and used for 2 years only, for it's intended purpose.  Every other house we lived in, was either too small of a kitchen or already had an island.  I'm excited to see how it will look and to be able to use it again!

School is fine.  This coming week I fine two tests.  One in English and the other in Psychology.  I'm a little nervous about my tests but getting the first one behind me will be good.  Then I will know how they test and what to study for, etc....

We are enjoying life and each other.

STUDYING STUDYING and more STUDYING!

School is back in full swing and everyone is buzzing around with things to do, places to go and people to see.

Erin is a transporter, housekeeper/kid watcher and a bunch of other things......too much to list.

Dave is starting tomorrow in the dual enrollment program through the community college.  He will be going to college as well.  He had an interview today and was excepted into the program right away.  I'm not sure what career pathway he choose but it is one step in the right direction.

Ryan is busy with school and doesn't love it but enjoys friends and stuff like that.

Katelyn is not as upset about schooling as she was before school started and the first day.  She made a few new friends and is going to do very well.

Moriah is very happy with her teacher, Mrs. Sweet.  She decided to go into the second grade again to get more of the building blocks that are holes for her in her education. She wants to be ahead of the game instead of behind/struggling.  She has met some friends and has a really nice group of classmates.

Daniel loves everything about school and can't wait to go to bed at night to be able to get up for school in the morning.  He will do well, everyone likes him.

Matthias is totally potty trained and lovin' life.

Autumn is doing very well and enjoying her new daycare lady.  A Grandma lady in the Deckerville lady.  She is just there a couple hours tues-thurs.  She loves it.

Terry is looking at starting school in a few weeks here for the CNA program.  He's still at Autumnwood but today is his last day in the position as hospitality worker.  I don't know where or what he will be doing tomorrow.....but he's still there for now.

Corey......is STUDYING and more than that, almost always STUDYING!  Oh man is this alot fo work and while I am enjoying it, it's so much more than I ever imagined.  I am liking all my classes.....they are very challenging.  I have great teachers and hopefully I will do well.  I hope to apply to get into the nursing program for 08 but maybe 09 is more realistic.....don't know.  ALOT OF WORK!

Nerves are okay in the house......we are all working together as a team to make this happen.  It has to be that way......a well oiled machine, a family must be.

What am I doing?

My journey to be an RN has begun!  Sometimes I think What Am I Doing?  But, I love it and have a lot of different emotions.  I am learning and enjoying it!  It's definitely a new road that I am walking.  New sights, smells, people, thoughts, ideas, and much much more.  I need to be open in so many ways especially if you want to be an effective learner.  I have five classes with one class meeting twice a week.

Something funny happened today.  I went to my math class after Biology.  I was in the room talking and sitting with about 10 other people.  The time for class came and went by and we all began to look around for the teacher.  One of my classmates looked at the class schedule and we realised that we were a month early for the class.  We all laughed and said see you in a month.  Good times, good times.

I guess I am lucky because I was talking with another student today, Kate.  She said that her Biology class is horrible, because her teacher isn't even teaching them.  We walked to the library on campus and I let her copy my notes from class down because she had nothing to go on.....no notes, no lecture and no lab.  I hope that it works out for the students in that mans class.  TO everyones benefit.  We were able to pick lab partners and I got a good one.  She is studying to be a pediatrician (sp?).  She's a smart one.  I am hoping that she will rub off on me.   I need to do more studying for sure but I am learning and that is exciting.

I have my emergency medicine class at 7 pm so I need to get to class.

SUNDAY!

We had a very nice day today.  The weather was gorgeous!  We went to church this morning and then to the Croswell Swinging Bridge.  We had a picnic lunch, played at the park and of course, went across the swinging bridge.  It's crazy.  I didn't bring my camera though so I didn't get any pictures of it.  It's cool, maybe next time I will remember to bring my camera.  Tomorrow Erin will be coming home and then David will come home on Thursday.

I start school on Tuesday and then on Friday, Daniel turns 6.  We are still planning on having one last hurrah as a family in the way of a family vacation.  We head off to the very large and wonderful town of Frankenmuth Michigan.  NOT!  It's not very large but it is wonderful, at least we think so.

It's just a long weekend vacation but it's something and it's just us!  All of us!

We are going to camp, in a tent.....so it's going to rain!  There you didn't know you were going to get the weather forecast too.  Bonus.

Then September 4th, the kids head back to school and most of them are excited.  Well one for sure.

Have a great week.  With me being in school, I don't know how often I'll be posting.  I will try to get at least one new post in a week.....we'll see.

Wish me luck?!

Clifton's Visit!

The Clifton's came for a visit today and that was wonderful.  They were escaping from there lack of power and we got to visit with them in ours.  We had a nice lunch and then made some cards for a craft.  The kids played polly's, dress up, watched a movie and more!  We also got to watch a powerful storm blow through and the worst of it missed us.  Thank the Lord.  The rain was great and the lightening show was awesome!  Thanks to the Cliftons for the wonderful veggie's they brought us from their garden......we sure enjoyed spending the day with you!

She PASSED!

Erin took her driver's test yesterday and she was really nervous.  I felt nervous because she was nervous.  She ended up doing fine!  She PASSED!  We went directly to the Sec. of state and got her official picture taken for her official driver's license.  What an ordeal.

Last night I brought Erin to Saginaw to meet some friends.  They are headed up to Wilderness campground to camp for a few days.  There will be alot of people that she knows.

Dave is still over on the west side of the state doing renovations on a house.  They are done with the roof so they are doing the siding next.  I think he will be home next week sometime.  He really enjoys hanging out with Micah so that's cool.

We are planning to have a family vacation this next coming weekend, Aug.31-Sept. 3rd.  Hopefully everyone will be home so that we can have our whole family together for our family weekend in Frankenmuth.

On the 28th of August, I start school.  I'm very nervous but looking forward it.  Does that make any sense at all?  Terry is trying to get into the CNA class starting in September as well.  It will enable him to keep his job at Autumnwood and not move into housecleaning.  YUCK!  He will do what he needs to do but he is so good with the people that it would be nice to see him continue on.

The kids start school on September 4th.  Some are excited and some are not.  Daniel has been losing teeth lately.  Matthias is completely potty trained now.  YIPPEE!

The house and all of the projects are on ongoing process for us.  Terry is working toward getting the house winterized and then he will work on things inside during the winter.

Terry was driving my little car and a deer ran into him.  The deer did do some damage to the car but the deer itself was fine.  Crazy!

I guess that the update for the fam at this time.
